Equipment that moves an inoperable vehicle
- Winch — the standard solution. Cable pulls the vehicle onto the deck under control. Requires the car to roll and, ideally, steer.
- Hydraulic liftgate — the vehicle is raised on a platform rather than pulled up a ramp. Essential for low-clearance and damaged cars, and standard on quality enclosed carriers.
- Soft-strap flatbed — tyre straps rather than chains, for project cars and classics where suspension and chrome must not be loaded.
- Forklift — where a vehicle will not roll at all. Needs to be arranged at both ends, and not every residential address can accommodate one.
- Dollies and skates — for repositioning a car with locked wheels onto the deck.
